Football Team Hands Out Post-Season Awards
The Cumberland Football Team held its team awards meeting last week and named the winners of three important team honors.
First, Junior Brody Gilbertson was named the “Defensive Player of the Year.” Gilbertson was previously named to the First Team All-Conference list. A tough two-way performer, he will be one of the HON’s best two-way players returning to the league next fall.
Senior Troy Majewski, meanwhile, was named as the Beaver’s “Offensive Players of the Year.” The Cumberland quarterback passed for 655 yards and ran for 215 yards and four touchdowns on the season. He was also a strong team leader and a very good defensive back, who finished fourth on the team in tackles.
The final honoree was Junior Hunter Fowler, who was voted by the Team Captains as the “Beaver Award” winner. This goes to an underclassman who they think best represents what it means to be a Cumberland football player.
Fowler joins Gilbertson, Alex LaBlanc, Mitchell Monchilovich, Max Odden, and numerous others, who will be the keys to next year’s team.
